Marcel Ostertag is a young German designer trained in Menswear at Central St Martins College London and honored with the Karstadt New Generation Award in July 2008 at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.

Actually he won the big prize for his womenswear line but his menswear designs have also been recognized: St. Martins College first prize for the best Menswear Collection and the privilege of presenting at Victoria and Albert Museum in London (the first menswear designer to present there).

Having gained work experience at Paul Smith, Dunhill and Burberry while studying, Marcel Ostertag returned after graduation to Munich to launch his own label in 2006.

Unfortunately he decided to move towards women's clothing, because women are more enthusiastic in wearing edgy designs. Well, that's too bad. Aren't there enough womenswear labels? I hope he'll reconsider and develop Marcel Ostertag menswear line as there are enough guys out there with a fashion-forward style.

Marcel Ostertag design philosophy consists of innovative, edgy (quite wild sometimes) interpretations of classic Menswear, mixing masculine and feminine characteristics, elaborate detail and clear-cut tailoring: a look designed "to impress not to understate". The collections made in Germany use natural fibers, such as silk, cotton, wool, linen along with coated fabrics, PVC, latex and other materials.

Currently he is selling to shops in Berlin, Munich and Vienna and next retail locations will be Hamburg, Paris, Barcelona with London, Shanghai and independent fashion online store styleserver.de in project. Isn't that a sign he is ready to rock the fashion world?

Stay tuned!
